Description:

The Karpeles Manuscript Museum has the distinction of the being largest private holder of significant original documents and manuscripts in the world. Housed in a mid-19th century Greek Revival structure, the Charleston branch of the library features a rotating exhibit of documents, which have included the pages of works by Edgar Allan Poe and children's story writer Frances Hodgson Burnett. The museum is located in the northern portion of downtown Charleston.
