The Nathaniel Russell House, built in 1818, is considered to be one of the finest examples of neoclassical architecture in the United States and guided tours of the house focus on both the unique architectural details of the building and the history of those who lived there. Originally built for shipping merchant Nathaniel Russell, the home features noticeably geometric rooms with detailed ornamentation, as well as an exquisite free-flying three-story staircase and many period antiques. The home is located in the historic district of Charleston, near White Point Gardens and the Edmondston-Alston House.
