Once a rice plantation, Middleton Place now serves as a step backwards into the 18th century, with beautiful gardens, a historic residence and live demonstrations of crafts creating a comprehensive, engaging historical experience. The stableyards are a place of particular interest for all ages, as trained craftsmen demonstrate various activities that were a part of everyday society in the 18th century, including blacksmithing, carpentry and yarn spinning and weaving. Guided tours of the house museum, available for an extra fee, showcase antique furnishings, art, books and daily use items dating from the late 18th through the mid-19th centuries. Middleton Place is only a few miles north of Magnolia Plantation and Gardens.
